ZineLab Tools and Tips 3
In this issue we will go over some of the things you can do as a user on the ZineLab platform.
The ZineLab Dashboard
The ZineLab dashboard contains all the zines you’ve created, and liked.
You may want to use the ZineLab platform as a user that doesn’t publish zines, the dashboard allows you to save your favorite zines to come back to later. If you do wish to create zines the other tab on the dashboard page - “My Zines” will allow you view and edit all the zines you’ve created. On the My Likes page you can add or remove hearts, go to that zine and quickly view the number of comments right from this page. It’s an easy way to manage what zines you like by seeing everything together. On the My Zines page you can quickly edit, view, delete and see the comment stats of the zines you’ve created. This is the most important page for managing your zines in the same place.
The Top Zines Page
View the top rated zines, as voted by users.
The top zines page allows you to view zines with the highest ratings and comments. The most active zines will have many users reviewing their zines so this page is a great place to see what’s popular. For now, liking a zine doesn’t affect its rating in the top zines, only user input and actual ratings. This will allow for concise group voting on some of the best content that exists on the platform. Featured zines are also displayed on some areas, and this usually will display the top 3 zines. It’s a fun feature that allows new visitors of ZineLab and curious existing users to have easy access to these top zines.
Managing Account Settings
The account settings page, is where you enter all your account information.
As the ZineLab platform grows this page will contain more and more useful information that you may want to add to your account. For now there is only a few options, but these are important things connected to your account that you can easily change at any time. This page is where you can update your name, email address and password.
Any published zine will get displayed on the explore page for users to find.
Zines are organized by category chosen by the zine creator. The explore page is the main area where you can search through all of the live zines on ZineLab. This page contains information about the zine title, image, created date and comments. It also allows you to view the zine from this page, or like it. If you are the user who created the zine you can also access edit and delete functionality from here. The left sidebar on the explore page contains all of the zine categories, and allows a user to filter the zines based on their chosen category. This creates a similar environment to a physical wall full of zines, that are grouped by similar categories. The newest zines appear at the top of the list, and move through the pages as new ones are created.
